The automotive underdog outscored every vehicle in AutoPacific's 2010 Vehicle Satisfaction Award, based on a survey of how satisfied 42,000 owners were with the new cars they purchased.

The Suzuki Kizashi, a midsize sedan with a horrible name from an automaker having a tough time in the market, scored 99 points higher than the industry average of 666 almost twice as high among new cars in the survey, AutoPacific said.

"This is an amazing win for Suzuki," says AutoPacific President George Peterson. "Kizashi is Suzuki's most important vehicle, and this performance in our research is exceptional."

Kizashi is an impressive car that was the family favorite in USA TODAY''s and Cars.com's Midsize sedan shootout, but Suzuki hasn't had the kind of marketing muscle of larger automakers to promote it. As a result, it remains sort of a secret among auto writers and enthusiasts who have gotten to know it.

Among manufacturers, Ford scored highest with seven. Honda and Toyota split with four each. And Nissan and General Motors had three each.
